40&8 Veterans Convention - Media Opportunities

Green Bay, WI, Sept 15-19, 2015

 

INDIANAPOLIS September 2015  The national headquarters of the Forty & Eight cordially invites members of the News Media to the group’s 96th annual Promenade Nationale (national convention) at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center, 2040 Airport Drive, Green Bay WI 54313, September 15-19, 2015.

 

There will be opportunities for interviews and videotaping colorful events, to include:

8:30 am                Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015         Color Guard Competition: Wolf Room

11:00 am              Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015         Children’s Clown Party: Grand Council Ball

4:30 pm                Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015               Opening Ceremony, Flags, Memorial: Wolf Room

1:00 pm                Friday Sept. 18, 2015                       Awards (Hero, City, & Law Officer of the Year): Wolf Room

Parade locomotives will be on display nearby.

Among the awardees will be Forty & Eight’s 2015 Law Officer of the Year Sgt. Adam Johnson of the Austin Texas Police Department Mounted Patrol, who on Nov. 28, 2014, ended a downtown Austin shooting rampage, when Johnson, under fire and while holding the reins of two police horses, fired one round that instantly ended the threat.   Johnson was awarded his department’s Medal of Valor.

The Forty & Eight is a charitable honor society of American veterans since 1920.  Its official name is La Societe des Quarante Hommes Et Huit Chevaux, derived from the French railway experience of American troops in the First World War.
