40&8 Veterans Convention - Media Opportunities
Fort Mitchell, KY, Sept 11-15, 2012
INDIANAPOLIS August 11, 2012 The national headquarters of the Forty & Eight cordially invites members of the media to the group’s 93nd annual Promenade Nationale (national convention) at the Drawbridge Inn, 2477 Royal Drive, Fort Mitchell, KY, 41017, September 11-15, 2012.
There will be several opportunities for interviews and videotaping colorful events, to include:
8:30 am Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012 Color Guard Competition
11:00 am Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012 Children’s Clown Party
4:30 pm Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012 Opening Ceremony, Flags, Memorial
1:00 pm Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 Americanism, Hero and Law Officer awards
Parade locomotives will be on display nearby.
The Forty & Eight’s 2012 Hero of the Year is firefighter Chris Pratt of Odin, Illinois. He and the Law Officer of the Year will be specially honored on Friday.
Also Friday, the 2012 Americanism Award will be presented to William A. Robinson. Captain Robinson, USAF Retired, is the longest-held enlisted prisoner of war in American history and the first enlisted man to receive the Air Force Cross for valor. He also has the distinction of having been trained and commissioned a Lieutenant by American POW officers while in captivity.
The Forty & Eight is a charitable honor society of American veterans since 1920. Its official name is La Societe des Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux, derived from the French railway experience of U. S. troops in the First World War.
